As the developers of actuarial instruments such as the Static-99R acknowledge that their original norms inflated the risk of re-offense for sex offenders, a brand-new method is cropping up to preserve those inflated risk estimates in sexually violent predator civil commitment trials. The method introduces a new instrument, the “SRA-FV,” in order to bootstrap special “high-risk” norms on the Static-99R. Curious about the scientific support for this novel approach, I asked forensic psychologist and statistics expert Brian Abbott to weigh in. Full Article

SRA-FV is valid for predicting sexual recidivism risk ?!?!?!?!
That statement alone tells anyone with a kindergarten level education that this test is utter BS, because NOBODY is capable of predicting the future and only a fool would think it possible.
Where d those Calif state employees/witch doctors say they went to school anyway?
Once again,
They’re like a blind man in a dark basement looking for a black cat that was never there.
And these are the “professionals” that some people would have determine a registrant’s placement on the registry! These are also the professionals who will be treating registrants, and making a fine living doing so! Look at the damage the Static 99 (all incarnations) has wreaked, and so the geniuses have found a new way to keep the fear and hysteria, not to mention the MONEY, flowing.
My outrage knows no bounds!
