New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio today announced that the State Senate has taken significant and important action in adopting a tougher stance against violent crime by enacting the “Domestic Violence Prevention Act-Brittany’s Law.” This legislation, Senate Bill 513, sponsored by Nozzolio, will create a publically accessible registry of convicted violent felons. Half of me thinks this would be great, the other half thinks no way, it make me mad to think a two time drunk driver here in California killed three girls on Halloween and got small sentence . He will be out and nobody will know. He will be free to become Anonymous again. He will be able to live a normal life. But those of us on the sex offender reg NO WAY can live a normal life, we did not kill someone.
The creation of another subclass of disenfranchised citizens can only add to the numbers of those voicing the truth about this concept of continued punishment after the debt has been paid. You’re right, David. In the effort to track, trail, monitor and persecute, our system of justice is assembling an army against itself.
