The Anaheim City Council voted unanimously to enact an ordinance yesterday to expand child safety zones to protect children from registered sex offenders in city parks. The Ordinance, which was originally introduced by Councilwoman Kris Murray, becomes effective in 30 days. The City Council also includes Mayor Tom Tait, Mayor pro tem Harry S Sidhu, P.E., and Council Members Gail E. Eastman and Lorri Galloway. Full Article

Hmm… no mention in the article about the several people who spoke up at the meeting against the ordinance, including several from California RSOL as well as one resident who presented information to the Council about a similar ordinance Anaheim had supposedly enacted some time in the past. Allegedly that ordinance prohibited those convicted of dealing drugs from entering parks. It was temporarily blocked by a judge and the Council ended up repealing it rather than lose in court on constitutional grounds. So now it’s deja vu all over again. Is there something in the Orange County water???
