MI: Animal abuse registry would be unfair, ineffective

We still have our doubts about Logan’s Law. It’s not a law yet, just a bill in the Michigan Legislature — again. First proposed in 2012, the law seeks to create an animal abuser registry to mirror the sex-offender registry that Michigan and many other states use to track those convicted of sexual assaults. The animal-abuse registry wouldn’t be a public list, although anyone with $10 could see it. Full Article

Yep, and then they will have a computer at the police station where you can view it then some politician will promote a bill that makes it accessible via the Internet etc. we know how this one plays out all too well.

I support a Lawn Abuse public registry displaying names and fotos of dogs who poop on my lawn and the owners who do not pick up after them. I’m lookin’ at you, next door neighbor!

Don’t serial killers often start out abusing animals? Maybe it’s not such a bad idea.

Oh good, another web site that will post my picture because I don’t use a doggy seat belt for my little Yorkie. (He’s 12 yrs old and likes to travel and be able to get to his food and water on the floor-board as needed. And not to be cruel, but if I’m in a major accident, at his age and with his many medical problems, he doesn’t have much of a chance of surviving with the use of a doggy seat belt anyway.). Will there be a maximum number of web sites I could be registered on (like maybe 3 strikes) before they just lock me up for life or just make it mandatory death?

Will slaughter houses be exempt? I bet PETA would support a registry for all meat eaters. “If it just saves one animal”.

Personally, I think this whole concept of personal privacy has been overplayed ever sense it was first introduced.
What about our right to know?
